Born in Huelva on August 18th, 1964, he started out at the age of eight under the guidance of his father, an amateur guitarist. At ten, he began to take lessons from the person who is considered to be his first great maestro, Miguel "El Tomate de Almer’a", who also initiated some important guitarists including his own son "El Ni–o Miguel" and his grandson "Tomatito". He began to have his first experiences with cante and baile accompaniment in Matilde Coral's and Rafael el Negro's dance school, and later on with Manolo Mar’n and "El Mimbre". His guitar has adorned the cante of first-line artists such as JosŽ MercŽ, Turronero, Chano Lobato, Paco Toronjo, Boquer—n, etc... Shortly afterwards he was awarded the Premio Nacional de Guitarra in the prestigious contest of Jerez de la Frontera, in the specialty of concert guitarist.

He took part in several tours with Manolo Sanlœcar, in addition to participating in his recording work with pieces for guitar and orchestra such as "Sole‡" or "Medea", which were composed for Spain's Ballet Nacional. This important and fruitful part of his career was decisive in the maturity and solidification of his ever more demanding artistic personality.

In 1992, with the Exposici—n Universal de Sevilla, he participated as first guitarist in Rafael Albert’'s work "La Gallarda", along with grand voices and actors such as Montserrat CaballŽ, Ana BelŽn, JosŽ Sacrist‡n, the choreography of JosŽ Antonio, and the Canary Islands Orquesta Sinf—nica.

He was asked to play for the soundtrack and eventual filming of the movies directed by Carlos Saura, "Sevillanas" and "Flamenco", which included an extensive list of the most important artists of flamenco cante, baile and guitar.

The 1994 Bienal de Sevilla presented the debut of the work "A oscuras" which opened in the Teatro de la Maestranza with the participation of Enrique Morente and Esperanza Fern‡ndez. He shared the stage with the singer Carmen Linares in the Spain-wide tour with the work "La Parrala".

His compositions are in demand and are interpreted by Roc’o Jurado, Enrique Morente, Carmen Linares, and El Pele, for whom he has also recorded and produced several recordings in addition to numerous television appearances.

In 1997 he released "Azulejo", the title of his first solo recording, and with this he received public and critical recognition for his work as concert player and composer.

In 1998 in Seville's Xth Bienal de Arte Flamenco, he presented "Abana—", a show created and directed by him, adding the dancing of Eva "La Yerbabuena" to his guitar compositions, and cantes interpreted by El Pele and La Susi. The audience's enthusiastic response as well as the critical praise that appeared in the various communication media, endorsed the success obtained by this work.

In January, 1999 it was the Compa–’a Andaluza de Danza that chose his music for the debut of a show titled "Un ramito de locura", whose choreography was the responsibility of the dancer Javier Bar—n. In the 2000 it intervenes composing and touching for Carmen Linares in the production of the Theater of the Armory of Seville Ò The light, the joy and the melancholyÓ In 2001 composes, touches and produces the disk of the flamenco singer Archangel, for the Company Yerbabuena (Virgin), and carries out with him the tour of that same year.

In the year 2002 and in the XII Biennial of Flamenco Art of Seville is presented in the Lope de Vega theatre with the spectacle ÒRitmo JondoÒ with ÒDe las Arts & Big BandÓ orchestra, doing flamenco compositions with symphonic processing and accompaniment of metals. In that Biennial is presented the work of Cervantes ÒRinconete y CortadilloÓ with the choreography of Javier Latorre and whose musical composition was the duty of Juan Carlos Romero and the prestigious contemporary musician Mauricio Sotelo, this ballet was rewarded in biennial happiness and the musical work extensively recognised.

In 2003 collaborates in the CD ÒTerritorio FlamencoÓ with the flamenco singers Carmen Linares and Estrella Morente. In the same year he initiates the recording of his second CD alone called ÒRomeroÓ, with the label ÒHarmonia MundiÓ, already for sale, with the contribution of artists as Eva ÒLa YerbabuenaÓ or Estrella Morente.

In spring of 2004 he began a tour of concerts over the Andalusian theatres with the collaboration of Miguel Poveda«s singing and the dance of Rafael Campallo.

He receive the 2004 spanish critics reward. With the sponsor of the Agencia para el Desarrollo del Flamenco, he create "El eterno retorno" a expectacle for the dancer Roc’o Molina. In september of 2006 the singer Miguel Poveda presents, in the Sevilla Bienal of flamenco, his new CD "Tierra de calma". The composition of letters and music are of Juan Carlos Romero. Also in the bienal 2006, the 8th of october he presents his last work "Suena a Romero". with this work he begin a tour.

The 2008 Bienal of Seville presented the debut of the work Raíces y Alas with Carmen Linares and the guitar, composition and direction of Juan Carlos Romero.
